Advise the National Judicial Council on suitable persons for nomination to the office of

  • The Chief Judge of the State;
  • The President of the Customary Court of Appeal of the State;
  • The Judge of the High Court of the State;
  • Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal of the State.

To recommend to the National Council the removal from Office the Judicial Officers mentioned above. To appoint, dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over the Chief Registrar and Deputy Chief Registrar of the High Court, the Chief Registrar of the Customary Court of Appeal, Magistrates, Judges, members of Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, members of Grade ‘C’ Customary Court and all other members of the staff of the Judicial Service of the State not otherwise specified in this Constitution. The Commission has responsibility for supervision and inspection of the activities of all the staff of the Grade ‘C’ Customary Courts which are located throughout the state.
